International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It’s celebrated on 8th March every year. Women’s day is not a public holiday in all countries but is observed in some countries. International Women’s Day has been celebrated in over 100 countries for over 100 years.
It has been observed since 1901 when it was first proposed in the United States at the first International Conference of Working Women in Washington D.C and was first celebrated on March 19, 1909, in Austria. In 1975 the United Nations General Assembly officially declared March 8 as International Women’s Day and launched IWD as a global event.
The day calls for gender equality and to celebrate women all over the world. In different countries, the day is celebrated in diverse ways as determined by the individual communities. To mark this occasion fellow Brands gave us ideas on what we can do to celebrate women & womanhood.
